Introduction and background

Ehan: Welcome to Wu. Today, our guest is George Hahn, Chief of Delivery and Implementation of Bitpanda Web3 and Vision Ecosystems. George, welcome. Can you give me a brief description of yourself and your background

Georg: Thank you for the invitation. I am Georg Hahn, currently responsible for the delivery and implementation of the Vision token and the Web3 ecosystem of Bitpanda. My background is electrical engineering and strategic advice, which was preceded by a major partnership with banks to help them digitize. I started working on encryption around 2020, when for the first time I invested in bitcoin and then joined Bitpanda, hoping to push the company Web3 line. Now my main job is to put the Vision road map into a really useful product。

Ehan: What prompted you to turn to Web3 and join Bitpanda

Georg: When I was consulting, I did have a more comprehensive understanding of traditional finance, but that area lacked the energy and speed sense of encryption. When I came across bitcoin and Web3, I realized that technology had the potential to revolutionize the financial system – to make transactions faster and more efficient. Bitpanda is a natural choice for me. It is the leading encryption broker platform in Europe and the largest start-up company in Austria. Joining us here allows me to combine my experience in traditional finance with my passion for encryption。

Vision Ecosystem in Bitpanda

Ehan: How was the ecosystem originally born? What role does it play in the overall strategy of Bitpanda

Georg: Vision builds on two early Bitpanda tokens – BEST and Pantos. The BEST is primarily used to motivate users within the Bitpanda platform, while Pantos focuses on cross-chain interoperability. Both have a strong community base but limited application. We have integrated them into a more complete ecology – the Vision – that combines their strengths and extends beyond Bitpanda. Now, Vision connects our regulated brokering to Web3 products such as wallets, protocols, chains and Launchpad. It builds bridges between the regulated traditional financial world (TradFi) and the open decentralised financial world (DeFi), while promoting Bitpanda’s expansion to monetization and Web3 infrastructure and maintaining our consistent standards of compliance。

Vision Ecosystem Pillar

Ehan: Could you describe the main pillars of the Vision ecosystem

Georg: Vision has three main core pillars. The first is the Tokenomics: Vision tokens provide power for all of our Web3 products – including the non-trust purse, Vision Protocol, Vision Chain and Launchpad. Each product will generate benefits, which will flow back to the treasury for buy-back and destruction, leading to deflation models. The second is independence: Vision is issued by the Vision Web3 Foundation in Switzerland and operates independently of Bitpanda. The Foundation is responsible for administering Power treasury, partnerships, funding projects and ecosystem development. Third is governance: governance is achieved by an independent Web3 committee and a future chain voting mechanism. The token holder will have the right to decide on the allocation of the treasury, the destruction mechanism and the upgrading of the agreement. The rights and interests of currency holders include pledge incentives, fee discounts, airdrops, and benefits such as the Gold Club fast-track in Bitpanda — These interests are not limited to the Bitpanda platform, but cover the entire Web3 ecology。

Vision and other tokens

Ehan: Do you think Vision is the most similar to any existing token model

Georg: Vision is between BGB and BNB. Like BGB, Vision will reward users in our ecology; like BNB, it has infrastructure at its core, supporting monetization and institutional user access. But our advantage lies in the European market. With strong cooperation with traditional financial institutions, such as Société Générale (Banque français pour le développement) and Raiffeisen (Bank Leifor, Austria), we are bringing regulated real world assets (RWA) into the chain through Vision Chain。

Strategic cooperation with SG Forge

Ehan: How did your collaboration with SG Forge build a bridge between TradFi and DeFi under the MiCA framework

Georg: This is actually going on. We have consolidated SG Forge's stable currency into our DeFi wallet and used it in some traded products, all of which meet the regulatory requirements of the MiCA. While regulation poses some challenges, it can build trust and security. MiCA ' s significance is to ensure fair competition and prevent the entry of undesirable projects, which is good for users and institutions。

Strategic objective of SG Forge to stabilize the currency directly into the chain

Ehan: What is the strategic objective of introducing SG Forge's stable currency directly into the chain

Georg: The core objective is to increase impact. Bitpanda provides Web3 infrastructure and user base, and SG Forge brings credibility to traditional finance. We want to work together to provide secure, compliant, decentralized product connectivity for traditional clients — I don't know. This is not only a win-win situation but also benefits retail users in Europe。

The balance between innovation and compliance

Ehan: How do you balance innovation with compliance in the Web3 domain

Georg: In the past, regulation tended to slow down innovation, but MiCA changed that. It has helped build trust, especially for those European users who still have doubts about encrypted currency. Full compliance makes us more credible – users know that Bitpanda is a safe, regulated platform. This trust attracts not only users, but also partners, while allowing for continuous innovation with compliance。

The Future of the European Exchange in Web3

Ehan: How do you think the European encryption exchange will develop in the era of Web3

Georg: The exchange is gradually transforming itself into a one-stop service platform – from a single business to multi-level service and infrastructure development. Just as Trade Republic evolved from brokering applications to digital banks, encryption broker Bitpanda is also evolving into a complete infrastructure provider. We're building this base through Vision Chain, just like Coinbase's Base. With our deep partnership with traditional finance, Bitpanda has the advantage of leading this transformation in Europe。

Competition and cooperation among European platforms

Ehan: What do you think about competition and cooperation between European encryption platforms

Georg: We prefer cooperation. There will certainly be competition at the user level, but our focus will be on building shared infrastructure – including interoperability, compliance standards, and user values. We are also willing to integrate with other ecosystems as long as it benefits users. Competition does exist, but we have confidence in our European leadership。

Ehan: Did MiCA give Europe a real advantage in global competition

Georg: No doubt. MiCA has brought about a clear regulatory framework and trust mechanisms – two of the most important things for users and partners. Bitpanda has been insisting on compliance at its core, so this environment can magnify our strengths. Regulation can bring sustainability and trust, both of which are key to long-term growth。

VISION Global Expansion of Ecosystems: Focus on Asia

Ehan: What is your strategy in terms of global expansion, especially in Asian markets

Georg: The encryption market in Asia is extremely dynamic. I recently joined Consensus in Hong Kong, Korea Blockchain Week, and Token2049 in Singapore – each market is unique, so localization is key. We recently went online on the Probit Exchange and entered the Korean market, one of the most promising. Asia offers us great opportunities to reach new user groups and bring them into the Web3 ecology of Bitpanda。

Europe ' s Web3 Identity: Compliance and Long-term Sustainability

Ehan: Do you think Europe's Web3 identity is different from that of the United States and Asia

Georg: Yes. Europe is based on the concept of “compliance priority” to make it more stable and sustainable. In the United States and Asia, innovation is faster, but risks are higher. The European regulatory framework can build long-term trust, particularly for institutional investors and conservative users, which is a safer and more secure environment。

Vision's Way Forward

Ehan: How do you think the exchange will evolve in the future and become a hybrid platform combining traditional finance (TradFi), decentralised finance (DeFi) and monetized assets

Georg: The exchange is moving towards a hybrid infrastructure platform that supports both traditional transactions and Web3 applications. This is what we do through Vision: we provide access to retail users through wallets and through chains to institutional customers. Web3 should not be complicated and incomprehensible, Vision is the key hub linking tradition to decentrization。

Ehan: Is there anything else you want to share with the audience

Georg: I look forward to the vision we are building — It is an ecosystem of real practical value and sustainable development. As we expand to the global market, especially in Asia, we attach equal importance to user education and hope that more people will understand the real potential of Web3.
